VISION : FOR THE PEOPLE

Federal Engagement and Collaboration

I am committed to enhancing federal engagement in American Samoa (AS) to effectively address the needs of our people and ensure accountability in terms of federal funding. This entails improving coordination with federal agencies such as the FBI, Veteran Affairs, DEA, and federal courts to safeguard our people's rights and ensure that their services actively benefit AS residents. Furthermore, my commitment extends to revitalizing existing federal agencies in AS, including the USPS, USDA, SBDC, NOAA, DOI and streamlining federal processes to ensure easier access to programs, benefits, and opportunities for the people of AS.

Healthcare Reform and Accessibility

My healthcare reform efforts will supplement and strengthen the current Medicaid and Medicare offerings to provide comprehensive coverage and better access to healthcare services for the people. I will work to eliminate the barriers preventing quality healthcare providers from expanding the infrastructure and providing more private healthcare options for the people. Additionally, I will work to streamline processes for veterans to access medical care, both locally and abroad.

Fighting the Drug Epidemic

I will partner with local leaders using a multifaceted approach to help fight the drug epidemic in AS, which will include community outreach and education, treatment and rehabilitation, and collaboration between law enforcement, healthcare providers, and community organizations. The presence of agencies like the Drug Enforcement Administration will be essential to mitigate the flow of drugs into AS and to ensure the safety of our communities. From a federal standpoint, we will allocate resources, support law enforcement, and push legislation that tackles the root causes of addiction. Together, we can build a safer and healthier AS for all residents.

Transportation and Supply Chain

I am committed to improving trade and transportation to AS by advocating for changes to cabotage laws and increasing airline and shipping carriers. Strengthening our supply chain will make consumer goods and travel more affordable and accessible for our people, ensuring they are better connected to opportunities and resources beyond our shores.

Voter Engagement and Civic Participation

Community engagement is the lifeblood to a healthier, more inclusive, and more responsive democracy in AS. I will host regular townhall meetings, luncheons, and focus groups to keep my finger on the pulse of the people and to better understand local concerns and needs. Through voter registration drives, outreach initiatives, and service projects we will increase civic participation, especially among young adults, women, and veterans, and cultivate a greater sense of community and responsibility.
